This fellowship was dedicated to learn disruptive technology in spine surgery like Microscopy, Endoscopy and other Minimal Invasive approaches and Awake Spine Surgeries. Minimal invasive approach has a significant impact on my patients surgical outcomes by reducing surgical time, minimal surgical stress, blood loss and less hospital stay which enables faster recovery and overall reduces the cost.
This advanced fellowship in adult and pediatric deformity and complex spine surgery was under the renowned Prof. Dr. Henry Halm, who led the Department of Spine Surgery and Scoliosis Center at Schön Klinik Neustadt. Prof. Halm is internationally recognized as a pioneer in treating both pediatric and adult spinal deformities—such as scoliosis, kyphosis, and kyphoscoliosis—and under his leadership, Schön Klinik
This was a highly competitive, structured foundational fellowship in spine surgery, awarded through an All India Entrance Exam with only ten seats available across India’s most prestigious spinal surgery institutes. The program offered rigorous, immersive training, with 14–16 hours of daily clinical work in high-volume spine centers. Responsibilities included managing approximately 100 outpatient consultations, 30 admissions, and assisting in 10 major spine surgeries each day. A substantial portion of the training focused on enhancing clinical acumen, diagnostic precision, and intraoperative skill development through continuous patient interaction and hands-on operative experience. During the fellowship, I also conducted significant research in the areas of Robotics and Navigation in Spine Surgery, resulting in multiple publications in reputed international journals. This intensive course provided exposure to nearly 20,000 outpatient evaluations and close to 1,000 major spine surgeries, and concluded with a rigorous exit examination.
I completed a focused observership in complex spine surgery at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai under its esteemed spine team. This program offered in-depth exposure to advanced operative procedures such as cervical-to-lumbar fixation, spinal tumour resections, and minimally invasive and microsurgical techniques. The experience was enriched by observing the use of intraoperative neuromonitoring, navigation systems, and management of high-complexity deformities.
As a Senior Resident at Dr. R. N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital & HBT Medical College, Mumbai, I managed a broad range of spinal pathologies under structured supervision. Positioned within a high-volume public teaching hospital, the role encompassed evaluation and management of trauma, degenerative, infectious, and deformity spine cases, contributing significantly to my clinical and operative proficiency. Working alongside neurosurgical and orthopaedic faculties, I gained hands on experience in multidisciplinary care and acute spine management pathways.
I completed a rigorous three year M.S. in Orthopaedics at Government Medical College & Hospital, Nanded—a 750 bed tertiary-care teaching hospital serving a catchment of over 5–6 million across Marathwada and adjoining districts of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Karnataka. Here, my thesis focused on minimally invasive spine surgery, which inspired my passion for advanced technology in spine care. Observing patient outcomes—shorter operative times, reduced blood loss, minimal surgical stress, and quicker recovery—motivated me to master these techniques. I was the sole resident responsible for the full spectrum of spine care: outpatient/inpatient evaluation, emergency trauma assessments, pre- and postoperative management, rehabilitation, and follow-up—laying a solid foundation in spine surgery and orthopaedics.

I’m preparing for Police Bharti and got injured during training. I consulted many doctors, and most of them said I would need surgery. But one of my cousins recommended Dr. Siddharth Katkate. He examined me and assured me that surgery was not needed and that I could recover with proper medication. Thanks to Dr. Siddharth for treating me so well and helping me recover quickly!
My sister had back pain due to poor posture. The doctor gave her full time, explained exercises, and didn’t jump to prescribe anything unnecessary. The place follows strict hygiene, and the staff is very professional. We were comforted by the safe and scientific approach.
Dr Siddharth Katkade is very good spine surgeon, he did my father's spine surgery, he explained all reports with MRI films to my father before surgery and answered all our questions about surgery. Good staff members and physiotherapists.
Dr. Siddharth Katkade is an excellent spine specialist. He listens patiently, explains everything clearly, and never pushes for unnecessary surgery. Very professional, ethical, and always available to answer queries. Highly recommended for anyone with spine issues!
